Kyrgyz Diaspora for Climate Action – Aimeerim’s Story

Aimeerim is a member of the Kyrgyz diaspora living in Zurich, Switzerland. Despite living abroad, like many other Kyrgyz diaspora members, she cares about her home country and people living in Kyrgyzstan.
Seeing landfills for waste disposal around the city of Bishkek as a crucial issue that affects citizens' health and local sustainable development, Aimeerim and her friend Ainura initiated an innovative project - developing a mobile app to help waste collection and recycling.

In order to better assist Kyrgyz diaspora like Aimeerim, who want to contribute to local development in Kyrgyzstan, IOM works with diaspora associations and provides support for local and national governments to expand and improve diaspora engagement for local sustainable development.
