Diaspora as Key Partner Across the Humanitarian-Development Peace-Nexus
Migrants and diaspora communities are recognized for their invaluable role in society due to their rich cultural contributions, diverse voices, and their economic contributions to the countries they live in and come from.
Yet, diasporas provide much more than the above-mentioned; they have been playing an important role in humanitarian actions. To recognize diasporas' contributions to everyday life, development projects and relief measures in disaster situations alike and leverage diasporas' strength through better coordination, this event will feature examples of best practices that have led to institutionalized, effective, and sustainable diaspora engagement. In addition, the event will also be an opportunity for diaspora representatives to showcase how their talent, skills, networks, and resources make them unique partners for development reacting and engaging throughout the humanitarian – development – peace nexus.
The event will take place during the High-level week of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77).
