Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa and the thematic oversight of the Labour and Facilitated Migration Division (LFM) in HQ, the Regional Labour Migration/ Migration and Development Specialist will act as a regional thematic resource person; monitor and analyze regional thematic trends; support regional thematic project development; and review and endorse projects related to his/her thematic area of expertise in the region.
To assist ECRE in fulfilling its organisational objectives by contributing to the achievement of activities within it’s Activities Plan. To assist ECRE in undertaking effective advocacy work by supporting the Senior Advocacy Officer in the gathering of information, the formulation of policy and the implementation of projects on specific topics relating to the external dimension of asylum. To monitor general policy developments on subjects relevant to ECRE.

Justice Without Borders for Migrants (JWB-Migrants) is a multinational network that seeks to combat violations of migrants’ rights linked to deportations and refoulements through transnational action that combines utilization of legal mechanisms, advocacy, documentation and reporting of abuses, capacity building, and strengthening collaborations and communication between partners.

Under the general supervision of the Gender Coordinator and reporting directly to the Project Officer (Gender and Migration), the successful candidate will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Review projects and various documents to ensure the inclusion of gender-related concerns in IOM project and programme activities.
The following Postdoc position is available within this project: The Global Governance of Migration and the Redistribution of Care and Social Risks. It questions to what extent regulatory discourse on migration and development takes issues of care and social risks into account. It examines the involvement of family migrants and migrant domestic workers in care and (informal) social security arrangements in their countries of origin and residence, and in their own cross-border life trajectories.
