e-Discussion SUMMARY

Promoting a territorial approach to migration and development: the practices, frameworks and strategies of local authorities to harness the potential of migration for development”

Dear M4D Net members!

First of all, we would like to warmly express our thanks to all M4D members who took the time to engage in the e-Discussion entitled ‘Promoting a territorial approach to migration and development’, moderated by the Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI). During the past two months, the outcomes of this e-Discussion greatly supported the JMDI in making the case for the importance of the local dimension in migration and development policies and initiatives. The results helped us to push the M&D agenda in this direction at key events such as the 2nd High Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development, the 2nd World Forum of Local Economic Development, and a conference organized by Intercultural Cities’, a network of the Council of Europe. Below you will be able access to the summary of this e-Discussion.

To facilitate your reading, you can either look at the individual summary of each week by topic, or at the full summary. We are looking forward to similar exchanges in the near future and invite members to contact us with proposals of topics that we could cover in forthcoming e-Discussions or to send us particular queries to be diffused through the M4D Net for further dialogue and mutual support. Thank you very much once more!
