The upcoming Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) will take place in Berlin, Germany from the 28th of June until the 1st of July, 2017. The conference is co-chaired by Germany and Morocco and will focus on a “Global Social Contract on Migration and Development”.

At the end of 2016, The University of Glasgow was invited to establish an UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and The Arts, to be held by Professor Alison Phipps OBE, PhD, BA (Hons), FRSE, FRSA, FAcSS.This Chair is the fist worldwide to investigate Refugee Integration.
The Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS) is holding an event on its initiative "Rethinking the Global Refugee Protection System" on June 16 in Washington D.C., USA. At this event, experts will discuss the challenges that face the global refugee protection system and indicate where reform is needed, building off of the three-day symposium hosted by the CMS last year. The Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID) 2017, which is co-organised by IFAD, UNDESA and the World Bank and will take place at the UN Headquarters in New York from 15-16 June. It will coincide with the third annual celebration of the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) on 16 June.
The Director General Conference within the framework of the EUROMED Migration IV (EMM4) programme (funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD)), will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on 14 June 2017 in Valletta, Malta and is entitled “Balancing the narrative on migration – the role of the media and policy-makers”.
The JMDI will host, jointly with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the European External Action Service (EEAS), a Project Lab entitled “The role of cities in implementing the migration-related targets of the SDGs” at the European Development Days (EDD) on June 8th at 15:15. This Project Lab seeks to further the international debate on migration and development by creating a platform to share the innovative tools and approaches of cities.
From June 5-7, 2017, the Refugee Law Initiative (RLI) of the University of London will be holding a conference entitled ‘Mass Influx? The European University Institute will be hosting a conference on the 25th-26th of May 2017 in Florence entitled “The Dynamics of Regional Migration Governance”. The conference will gather renowned academics and policy makers to examine the dynamics of migration governance at regional level, with a focus on inter-state and transnational dynamics of cooperation.
The 7th Annual International Symposium on Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling will take place at Thon Hotel in Brussels.
