The ITC-ILO, in partnership with IOM and the JMDI, are holding a course on "Governing migration at local level." The content of the course will be based on the "My JMDI Toolbox," and aims "to maximize the potential of a good goverance of migration at local level supporting stakeholders, local & regional representatives of public administration and academics." This course is oriented towards civil servants, civil society representatives, public officials involved in development and migration policies.
The Global Conference on Cities and Migration aims to combine current thinking around international migration and sustainable urban development in order to contribute to the implementation of the urban dimensions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including, but not limited to, Sustainable Development Goal 11, which has been designed to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
An international conference entitled "Migrants and Refugees in a Globalized World: Responsibility and Responses from Universities" is being held in Rome, Italy from November 1-4, 2017.
The ITC-ILO and the IOM are organising an online course on “Mainstreaming migration into policy planning”, which is in line with what the JMDI advocates for. It is of critical importance that migration is gradually mainstreamed into all levels and areas of governance, in order to foster more effective, coherent and coordinated migration policies.
This course will take place between October, 30th and November 3th. It has a tuition cost of 1.580€, plus a subsistence cost of 600€ (Total: 2.180€).
The European Network on Statelessness, the European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) and the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion (ISI) will hold a conference in Skopje (FYROM/Macedonia) on the 26th and 27th of October, 2017.
The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) organises the Vienna Migration Conference on Migration Partnerships.). This conference will discuss the creation of frameworks for safe, orderly and regular migration, and it will bring together politicians, senior officials, experts and practitioners from governments, international organizations, civil society, academia and the media to debate the central aspects of migration policy making, preparing the ground for better migration policies and practices that are fit for the future.

On the occasion of the EU Anti-Trafficking Day, the Austrian Task Force on Combating Human Trafficking will organise a conference on “Human Trafficking in Conflict and Crisis Situations”. The organisation of this event is in cooperation with the OSCE Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Brussels will host between the 2nd and 3rd of October the Europe Regional consultation, an event hosted by the MADE Global Coordinating Office of the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) and the Platform forInternational Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), with financial support from IOM and co-funding from MADE/ICMC.
New York City hosts today and tomorrow the Global Mayors Summit on Migration and Refugee Policy. The aim of this event is to uncover how cities overcome obstacles to implementing policies that promote migrant and refugee integration, rights protection, and empowerment. This summit understands that cities are actors of critical importance dealing with the challenges and opportunities of migration at the local level.
