M4D Library

 

The repository collected over more than six years represents a joint effort of the M4D Net Facilitation Team and the M4D Net members to make available to the wider community the latest findings in the field of migration and development with a view to filling potential knowledge gaps and move the migration and development agenda forward through evidence-based research.

The e-Library is searchable by keyword, document type, thematic area, focus area and year of publication. Being a member of the M4D Net Community also allows you to upload documentation that you wish to share with others through the e-Library.

In order to effectively disseminate the program’s core objectives, goals and potential benefits within the communities of the Egyptian migrant fishermen in Greece, we have engaged in the task of identifying a number of leaders in each of the regions that host Egyptian migrant fishermen communities of a considerable volume. The methodology and rationale used together with the results of the leadership-identification procedure, are well presented on this paper.

Diasporas are in a unique position to have a positive effect on the economy of their countries of origin – the key is for those countries to seize the opportunities. This report, the fifth in a series examining the role of diasporas in development policy, documents how diaspora entrepreneurs often are motivated to contribute to job creation and economic growth in their native lands. But, as the report outlines, many developing countries have met only limited success in attracting diaspora investors and entrepreneurs. The study offers some key findings and policy options.
