Rebuilding after Crisis: Embedding Refugee Integration in Migration Management Systems

Date published

In this recent report, Demetrios G Papademetriou, Meghan Benton, and Natalia Banulescu-Bodgan of the Transatlantic Council on Migration, which is a project of the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), analyse how positive integration outcomes among refugees can be encouraged, while upholding the integrity of migration systems. This report is timely given that Europe is trying to balance how to prevent another 'refugee crisis' and to ensure the new arrivals integrate and that their contributions are realised. Through anaylsis, the report demonstrates how interdependent this approaches are. As such, it is argued that there is a need to transition from short-term provisions to the creation of long-term opportunities.
