Integrating Migration into COVID-19 Socio-Economic Response: A Toolkit for Development Partners
How can development programming include key aspects of human mobility in COVID-19 socio‐economic response?
IOM's Mainstreaming Migration into International Cooperation and Development (MMICD) project has developed a practical toolkit which aims to provide information and tools for development partners to integrate migration – in all its forms – into development‐centred plans, programmes and projects linked to COVID‑19 socio‐economic response. Informed by the “UN Framework for the Immediate Socio‑Economic Response to COVID‑19”, and relevant EU and UN policy frameworks, the Toolkit provides analysis and practical tools to enable policymakers and practitioners to deal with the ways in which migration and sustainable development interact within the context of the COVID‑19 pandemic.
The Toolkit has been adapted from products formulated under the Mainstreaming Migration into International Cooperation and Development (MMICD) Project, which is funded by the EU and implemented by IOM. Various sector materials that are being produced under the project – in partnership with relevant UN partners – are reflected in this guidance, demonstrating the cross‐cutting nature of migration mainstreaming.
