More than one million Cambodians choose to migrate every year to look for better opportunities and help their families and home country to develop. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) analyses the benefits of this strategy, as well as its associated risks and challenges. One of the major risks outlined in this report is that many Cambodians that move to Thailand hoping to find better jobs end up being trafficked for their labour.
