Indo Canadian Village Improvement Trust (ICVIT) has executing village improvement projects in eight villages, seven further projects are ongoing and four are in the immediate planning.
A central village water supply and central waste water treatment plant has been established in most cases away from the village. 97 percent of the villagers use toilets, real or improvised which has served the needs of women especially who used to earlier hesitate to go to the fields for their natural necessities. According to a study conducted by the University of Punjab the incidence of disease has gone down dramatically in the finished projects, resulting in a reduction of Diarrhea by 90 percent.
A solar powered ultra filtration water purification plant has been established in collaboration with AQUA INFINITUM of Switzerland in November, 2011 that produces 10000 Liters of water daily. The water is given of free of charge to village situated in the district of HoshiarPur in Punjab, INDIA

Main objectives
The projects cover the following thematic areas:
- Access to clean running water from a deep bore well to each household-------small user fee.
- Underground sewerage system hooked to each household free of charge.
- Waste water treatment plant according to village condition.
- Paved streets with concrete. It could also be bricks.
- Solar street lighting.
- Parks if possible in common area of the village.
- Computers in school if required.
- education in governance
- Encourage women’s empowerment.

The projects implemented by ICVIT using the Plan Scheme NRI-1 grant, are integrated comprehensive projects that are eco-friendly, sustainable, easy to operate and low on maintenance.
The projects improved villages in Punjab and their lack of drainage and sewer facilities.
ICVIT's main goal is to catalyze the spread of similar projects not only in Punjab but all over India.
Main beneficiaries
The beneficiaries are village communities in Punjab. Until October 2012, approximately 70,000 people have benefitted from his project.
