Brief description of the initiative
The JMDI funded project AL 188 Capitalize on Migrant Capacities implemented by ALDA intended to maximize the development impact of migration by addressing the issue of brain waste and de-skilling of prospective migrants and returnees in order to transform it into brain gain. The proposal has been conceived also in order to strengthen the links and the dialogue among Algerian migrants in Italy and France and migrant associations and local authorities in Algeria in the field of migration issues. The project achieved these goals by providing coherent pre-departure orientation, by encouraging highly skilled Algerian emigrants in France and Italy to contribute to the socio-economic development of Algeria and by facilitating the professional reintegration of returnees and prospective migrants.

Main objectives
The overall objective of this project is to support capacity building of public bodies, reinforce human rights and social inclusion, in particular economic and social rights of women in Algeria.

Main activities
The objectives foreseen present a complex set of activities:
• Capacity-building through the setting-up of an Assistance Centre for nongovernmental organisations (advice, information, rent of equipment) aimed to reinforce organisations dealing with human rights and women autonomy;
• Open a Counselling Centre for Women emancipation through work aiming at promoting inclusions and social and professional engagement;
• Set-up a permanent forum for meetings and trainings of the main organisations in that field;
• Set-up a training kit to promote human rights and social status of women by reinforcing their competences and enable them to actively work on their professional inclusion and in business;
• Develop information campaigns to raise awareness among public authorities and the public on education in Human Rights and democratic participation;
• Create a Media Centre for information development for ordinary citizens.
