ODI-CGD-LSE-IOM Side-Event at the GCM Conference
On 10 December, Member States will meet in Marrakesh, Morocco, to formally adopt the Global Compact for Migration (GCM). Overseas Development Institute's high-level side event, held the day before the GCM is adopted, focuses on how better migration governance can bring about shared, sustainable development outcomes. It draws forth concrete, pragmatic proposals and initatives to implement the GCM's objectives in ways that can foster development and prosperity. In particular it look at new collaborations, such as with the G20 Eminent Persons Group on Global Financial Governance, and innovations, such as the Global Skills Partnership.
This event, co-organised with the Center for Global Development (CGD), the London School of Economics' Institute of Global Affairs (LSE IGA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), features an expert panel who all have key roles to play in realising the developmental potential of migration. We hope that the discussion will equip Member States and other key actors with innovative ideas and tools needed to ensure migration and development positively interact with each other in the decades to come.
