The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) at Maastricht University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 fte), three year lecturer appointment with a first year probation period, starting January 1, 2012 (negotiable). The post holder will contribute to research (20%) and teaching (80%) in the field of Globalisation and Development Studies (GDS) with a focus on the Global South. You contribute to research and teaching in the field of Globalization and Development using a transnational perspective. Teaching duties include courses in the BA and MA programs in Globalization and Development of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Initially teaching activities will take 80% and research 20% of your time. The research time can be extended through external fundraising. Qualifications: • You have a PhD in a social science discipline (anthropology, sociology, geography, international development studies, etc) with a focus on the Global South. • Your research experience and publications demonstrate your expertise in the field of Globalization and Development. • You have published internationally and in peer-reviewed journals, or are willing to develop in this direction. • You have evidence of or potential for the acquisition of research grants. • You have excellent command of English (oral and written). All teaching is given English. • Previous experience in working with innovative, interdisciplinary learning approaches and problem-based teaching methods are highly welcomed. • Teaching experience in English is a plus. • You are open to interdisciplinary work. • You are a team player.
