The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), an international organisation with headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is looking for qualified candidates to fill the above-mentioned position. The "Competence Centre Illegal Migration and Return" aims at supporting the development of effective and comprehensive migration policies to counteract illegal migration and foster sustainable return. Such policies have to be implemented in respect of the fundamental rights of the individuals affected and should strictly adhere to international obligations. The unit contributes to sound and fact based policy development, undertakes capacity building activities as well as operational actions providing post-arrival assistance in the fields of illegal migration, return, readmission and reintegration. The activities are implemented in collaboration with relevant government authorities, EU institutions, NGOs, international organisations and academia. The incumbent will conceptually guide the activities of the organisation in the fields of illegal migration, return and readmission. The incumbent will supervise a team of project staff at headquarters as well as project offices and will closely co-operate with project partners, beneficiaries and donors. The position implies rather frequent travel.
