The project is just beginning implementation now.
The project aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial, professional and financial capacities of migrants who live in Madrid and their families in the Ecuadorian provinces of Guayas, Pichincha and indigenous Cotacachi.
To achieve this the project is establishing a modular support system to develop migrants' entrepreneurial, professional and financial capacities, comprising information, training and tutoring.
• Mapping existing resources.
a.) A survey will be conducted to map the target population’s needs, demands and potential;
b.) a map will be produced of small business opportunities, both in terms of productive projects and the development of trading networks;
c.) a list of support resources available to migrants and their families in both countries will be drawn up and disseminated.
• Implementing new initiatives.
a.) A modular support system, which will include information, training and tutoring, will be devised and put in place to develop migrants' entrepreneurial, professional and financial capacities.
b.) 3 pilot experiences will also be implemented and monitored:
(1) at least 4 micro-enterprises will be set up in Guayas and Pichincha with the participation of migrants or returnees, and 1 in Spain, run by Ecuadorian migrants;
(2) a trading network linked to community projects in the indigenous Cotacachi province will be developed;
(3) a revolving fund will be created to provide up to 4 micro-credit grants to support the start-up of migrant entrepreneurial initiatives.
• Overall, 150 migrants and returnees will receive career counseling and training;
• at least 50% will take part in local development projects in their region of origin;
• at least 50 migrant families in Ecuador will receive information about the project and access its services, thereby improving family income;
• the 5 micro-enterprises set up in Ecuador and Spain (4 and 1, respectively) will create 15 new jobs.
