Partners

The EC-UN Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI) is funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP Brussels Office in coordination with the following partners:

  • United Nations Partners - The JMDI is implemented by UNDP in collaboration with IOM, ILO, UNFPA and UNHCR. The five agencies are directly engaged in the management and direction of the programme and contribute their institutional knowledge, expertise and extensive networks to ensure its success.

  • Migrant Advisory Board - the JMDI’s Migrant Advisory Board provides substantive advice to the Joint Initiative. The Board is composed of six experts with recognized academic and hands-on expertise in the field of Migration and Development.

  • Local Authorities Network - the JMDI-Local Authorities (LA) Network has been established to draw on local authorities’ experience in helping migrants get involved in the countries they left behind. The network works to identify, showcase and discuss examples of how cities and regions can help make migration work for development.

  • ICMPD - ICMPD’s role in the Joint Initiative is to assist organizations implementing projects funded under the JMDI Call for Proposals.  ICMPD is supporting these civil society groups throughout the whole lifetime of their projects through tailor-made services during each phase of the Initiative.
