The project offers technical assistance to ACP States and Regional Organisations to help them better understand and manage their migration flows, as well as integrate migration issues into national and regional policy, including for economic, social and cultural development, the overall aim being to capitalise on the positive effects of migration for the development of the ACP region.
In this context WYG International is currently recruiting Technical Assistants to support the project in the six ACP regions. Two Technical Assistants will be mobilised in each region, one working with the region’s mandated organisation and one working with the national institutions of two pilot countries. The Technical Assistants will also work with civil society, reinforcing its participation in policy dialogue on migration issues.
The regions and pilot countries are:
· West Africa – pilot countries: Senegal and Nigeria
· East Africa – pilot countries: Kenya and Tanzania
· Central Africa – pilot countries: Cameroon and DR Congo
· Southern Africa – pilot countries Lesotho and Angola
· Caribbean – pilot countries: Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti.
· Pacific – pilot countries: Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste
Technical Assistants should ideally have:
· Strong experience in institutional capacity building and civil society support;
· An excellent knowledge of the region in question, with experience of working with/for a regional organisation being an advantage;
· Experience in the field of migration, particularly on questions of migration and development.
The Technical Assistants will be based in: either one of the two pilot countries (with regular travel to the other), or in the country where the regional organisations has its offices. These are full time positions, based on 10.5 working months per calendar year, starting as soon as possible until the end of the project in June 2013.
